Q&A Event: US Citizenship and Immigration Issues for Intercountry Adoptees
Q&A Citizenship & Immigration Issues for Intercountry Adopted People, December 3rd, 2024, 7pm EST. Sponsored by Adoptees United, Adoptee Rights Law Center, and the Michigan Adoptee Rights Coalition.
We are happy to report we had exceptional attendance at the Q&A event this past week on December 3rd, 2024. Over 75 people came to hear Gregory Luce, Founder and Adoptee Rights Attorney from the Adoptee Rights Law Center, who is also our coalition partner in the Michigan Adoptee Rights Coalition, and the Founder and Executive Director of Adoptees United. Greg answered numerous questions about what types of information intercountry adoptees need to have, how to begin the process of checking your status and even the steps in pursuing citizenship. The event was hosted in part by our own board members and internationally adopted people: Anna Thompson, and Katie Cisneros Restrepo. If you are an intercountry adoptee and you need help or information about your own records, we would strongly encourage you to visit the Adoptees United Legal Resources for Intercountry Adoptees page to find out what your next steps should be. We are urging all adoptees, birth parents, adoptive parents, allies and advocates to spread the word that this could become an issue in the upcoming administration, but there is help available.
