Adoptee Rights Story Project

Do you have a story about your adoption experience that you want to share to help legislators and others understand what it is like for an adoptee to try and gain valuable information about themselves that is being kept secret through closed adoption files?

We are looking for your contribution to this conversation. Sometimes telling your story can be healing, and we are hear to listen. Are you an adoptee who is frustrated with trying to navigate the Michigan system? Are you worried that your adoptive parents may have never secured your citizenship? Was your request for information denied by a judge? Did you have a difficult time working with your confidential intermediary? Was your information accurate, or did you find out it wasn’t? Did a DNA test give you a result you didn’t expect? All of these and more are reasons why these outdated systems need to change.

Click here to share your story with us, and if it one we can use for advocacy we will contact you to get your permission before we share it. Thanks
